Look up any company logo followed by \u201ctransparent PNG\u201d and you\u2019ll see images with a white-and-grey checked pattern around them \u2014 that\u2019s an indicator that the background has been stripped out (and no, those white-and-grey checks won\u2019t show up when you use the design).<\/p>\n

Types of transparent logo files<\/h2>\n

Common places to use a transparent logo include websites, T-shirts, email signatures, letterheads, images, and videos \u2014 more on that in the next section. They\u00a0can come in three file formats:<\/p>\n

PNG<\/strong> – What is a PNG logo? PNG files (short for portable network graphics) are the most common file type for transparent background logos. They can display millions of colors within a relatively small file size.<\/p>\n

Use these files whenever you\u2019re putting your logo on digital applications like websites, social media platforms, Powerpoint presentations, and more. They’re a higher quality version of jpg files.<\/p>\n

Is a PNG logo transparent? Yes, a PNG logo is transparent and ideal for use in any digital or editorial purpose. <\/div>\n

GIF<\/strong> – GIFs can also support transparent backgrounds. That said, most logo files don\u2019t come in this format, as a PNG file is more commonly accepted.<\/p>\n

SVG<\/strong> – SVGs are vector files that support transparent backgrounds.
